What an exceptional vintage treasure!

This exquisite mallard or duck brooch, created by Coro, features a clear lucite center known as a "jelly belly." Jelly belly figurals from the 1940s are highly collectible due to their rarity and the enchanting transparency of the lucite. The design of this piece is remarkably elegant, adorned with intricate details and sparkling crystals. It is truly remarkable that this brooch has been preserved in such excellent condition over the years. A patent for this style was filed by the esteemed designer Adolph Katz in 1944. The Design Patent No. is 137,356, issued February 22, 1944.

Coro was one of the largest and most prolific costume jewelry manufacturers in the United States, operating from the early 20th century until the 1970s. Their pieces are highly collectible today, particularly those designed by Adolph Katz, who was one of their most prominent designers.
