The portrait depicts Mary in period court dress, with a veil, layered ruff collar, and jewelled bodice rendered in remarkable sculptural detail. The deep oval form is suspended via a double-loop bail. Patination in the relief recesses beautifully enhances the three-dimensional portrait work, a hallmark of Winograd's craftsmanship.
