A special masterpiece of vintage jewelry design!
This is a distinctive, hand-assembled mid century brooch and clip-on earring set, made in the studio-craft tradition associated with makers like Haskell, DeMario, Hagler, Robert, and Ian St. Gielar — but this example is unsigned.
The brooch features large translucent glass disk beads layered over a dense bed of rhinestones, glass beads, faux pearls, and aged brass leaves, arranged around a carved mother-of-pearl leaf centerpiece. Small ruby-red crystal accents are tucked throughout the clustered design. Each element is individually wired and mounted onto a substantial brass filigree framework with cast leaf and floral components. The construction is fully dimensional, with stacked glass elements and raised settings that create depth from every angle.
The matching clip-on earrings mirror the same construction technique: layered glass disks, faceted blue rhinestones, wired glass beads, faux pearls, and openwork brass filigree bases. The backs show traditional mid century clip hardware with open filigree construction consistent with high-end studio jewelry of the period.
This is not mass-produced costume jewelry. The labor-intensive wiring, mixed glass components, dimensional build, and weighty brass findings place this set firmly in the collectible studio-craft category. Complete sets of this quality and complexity are increasingly difficult to find!
