An outstanding 1940s designer brooch in sterling silver by Hobe!

This is a stunning hand-worked brooch made in sterling silver in the shape of a fabulous floral bow. The detail is absolutely phenomenal! This item has a nice patina, making it mostly dark with an eye-catching shine on the high points which adds to the vintage appeal. It could be shined up carefully with a liquid dip if desired but it is being sold here as it is shown to preserve the rich historical detail.

Hobe et Cie was founded in 1887 by Jacques Hobe, a goldsmith, in Paris. Jacques' son William brought an offshoot of the company to New York in the early part of the 1900s and made a name there with luminaries such as Flo Ziegfield and various Holywood stars such as Bette Davis and Ava Gardner. Early Hobe jewelry is a historical treasure and this piece is a fine example of that!
