About the Artist – Patrick "Paddy" Seaweed

Patrick "Paddy" Seaweed, born in 1955 in Alert Bay, British Columbia, is a Kwakwaka’wakw First Nations artist known for his beautifully crafted silver jewelry featuring traditional Northwest Coast imagery.

Seaweed began learning jewelry carving from Lloyd Wadhams in 1978 and comes from a family of accomplished Indigenous artists. His designs frequently feature important Northwest Coast creatures, including Ravens, Eagles, Wolves, and Killer Whales.

The Raven holds an important place in many Northwest Coast Indigenous traditions, appearing in stories as a clever, transformative figure associated with knowledge, creation, and change. Its distinctive imagery has inspired generations of Indigenous artists.

Artist Attribution: This piece bears the hand-engraved initials "PS" on the reverse. Based on the signature, design, and workmanship, we believe it is most likely by Paddy Seaweed.
